- Sep 15, 2009 I play 3.5e Dungeons and Dragons and keep getting blocked by a simple rule. When a character takes ability damage, do they lose hit points? I know constitution damages leads to hp loss, but do you lose hp based on the number of ability points lost or the number of ability modifiers lost? Also, do you lose hp for the loss of the other physical abilities (strength and dexterity)? What about the.
