Feb 17, 2017  with varus u basically want to farm and survive the laning phase. Dont hesitate to be offensive and poke down your opponents early in the game, but be carefull, if u get low hp u can easily get dived.Then u get your core items at mid-game at which point u get blue buff, you group with your team, and u start poking your opponents dealing crazy damage with your q's. Galio had overheard talk of these wildmen many times, given their recent conquests. Oct 06, 2013  I am able to reach 500 ap with 3k hp and 200 mr and armor. Every 5 seconds or so I can deal around 500 dmg with my Q and E combo, and my ult deals in excess of 1,250 to the entire enemy team. The only real reasons why some people complain about him is because Tenacity can allow someone to escape the ult, but I can then end it early if that occurs.

Although fizz can escape quite easy from your Q-W combo, he can't burst you down either and when fizz can't snowball, you win

Akali is melee and that makes it easy for you to Q-W her under turret early game.

I've played versus janna in middle lane and it's horror for alistar. Terrible laning phase and teamfight, you cannot come close to janna and the enemy adc

At first, i want to say sorry for my bad English, i didn't do my English homework properly the past years ;)
AP alistar has always been a thing for trollers, but with the rise of midlane assassins, i'd like to share you my build for this OP assassin killer! You guys probably dont belive me; but i am sure you won't regret playing AP alistar.
Alistar mid is for me THE assassin killer #1. I've been using this build for over a year now and im sure AP alistar is now ready to become a meta midlaner! I've played this build for over 300 ranked matches this season, and with 60(!) percent winrat in platinum elo.

Pros / Cons

PRO'S:
- Sustain for as well assassins (R) as poke (E)

Galio Pre Hotfix Q Dmg 1

- High burst potential
- It's a suprise for the enemy team
- Snowballing quite easy (it's true)
- Great roams
- High cc
- Tanky enough to hit the combo and oneshot twice in a teamfight
- Great wave clear with Q & ludens
- Big suprise for enemy midlaner
CONS:
- Can be easily outranged, and when you're outranged it's hard to farm
- Probably need a gank pre 6
- Can fall behind

I've played this build for 135 ranked games now, and i've got over a 65% winrat as AP alistar mid & top & support. I mainly pick this into squishy or milee midlaners. After building sheen and ludens echo you should be able to oneshot squishies! AP alistar carryed me from silver to platinum in season 6. Have fun :)
